Coming Home to Your Self is a retreat that invites you to walk some different paradoxical paths for discovering, embracing and honoring your True Self. In the midst of nature and through Ritual, small groups, contemplative time and other active learning, we will together move towards living more full and whole lives in service to ourselves and our world.

As men, we often define ourselves by what we do, what we know or who we know.  We fear truly living or relating because we don’t know how others might receive or accept us.  We can spend a lifetime searching but somehow miss discovering our authentic and most appealing selves.

Stephen Picha is a leader and teacher with more than twenty-five years of experience in both nonprofit and for-profit organizations as well as in the public school system. He currently serves as Event Animator at Ghost Ranch Education & Retreat Center.

Stephen served as Executive Director of the Center for Action and Contemplation for over a decade and during that time helped to birth MALEs – Men As Learners and Elders (now known as Illuman), where he also served as a Ritual and Logistics elder. He has trained in nature-based retreat work with the Animas Valley Institute, GERI (Gender Equity & Reconciliation International), INELDA (International End of Life Doula Association) as well as with Joanna Macy’s The Work That Reconnects. He also has been part of a men’s group for the last 15 years.

Stephen lives in Albuquerque with his wife, Mary Jo, and children Grace and Luke. They are currently developing their 1/2 acre in the North Valley of Albuquerque into an urban farm with chickens, bees, orchard and plants/vegetables.

Mike Bennett has been a spiritual seeker most of his adult life. Introduced to the Charismatic Renewal early in 1977, he and his wife joined an intentional Christian Community in Nebraska searching for meaning and understanding in an ever changing world. His “journey of illumination” led him to Ghost Ranch and the Men’s Rites of Passage in 2001. In 2003, he was invited by the Center for Action and Contemplation to become a Support Elder for the MALES program. In 2005, he moved to Albuquerque to work for the CAC as the Men’s Work Coordinator for MALES.

Since 2009, he has directed a Food Pantry Program located in the South Valley of Albuquerque. He also is still connected to Illuman and serves as a member of the Wisdom Elder Council. Mike and his wife Wendy have 3 married adult children and 3 grandchildren all of whom still reside in Nebraska.
